Who Are You?
I’m a music journalist, singer/songrocker and event producer originally hailing from the Great Lakes region who transplanted to the San Francisco Bay Area just before the millennium flip. My main gig is Frets Editor at Guitar Player magazine, and my main artistic endeavor is making modern/classic rock with Spirit Hustler. My two solo albums have heavy New Orleans influences and feature members of Galactic and the Honey Island Swamp Band. I’ve toured internationally with Shana Morrison (Van’s daughter). I coordinate Guitar Player Presents events, and I co-founded two music festivals: Guitarfish Music Festival (Lake Tahoe) and Star City Music Festival (Brisbane, CA).
What’s Your Connection to Lats & Atts?
I was back in Toledo, Ohio, over the holidays where I ran into a dear old friend, Erik Kyle, aka el jefe at Lats & Atts. I was impressed with the magazine but noticed there was no music coverage. What’s the cruising lifestyle without a soundtrack? Perhaps I could be of service. He and Editor-in-Chief David Levesque proposed that we start with a guest spot on their Three Sheets podcast. They asked if I might want to dive into the subject of Yacht Rock.….
