The VIPCA is proud to finally offer a comprehensive, creditable health plan with CIGNA to all cruisers, with a VIPCA membership. VIPCA insurance was previously restricted to either crew working on charter boats, or employees of USVI business that support the marine industry. With this new announcement, any cruiser who joins the VIPCA ($150 Annual Membership) can now take advantge of the health insurance plans!Â
Cruisers (or anyone) could always join if they wanted to support the VIPCA and get the wealth of discounts they offer, (like 10% off at Budget Marine) but now the added eligibility of accessing the VIPCA health insurance program is being extended to all members!Â
Eligibility Criteria
- Actively sailing/cruising at least 6 months of the year internationally (i.e outside of your home country)
- Note: For American cruisers in the Caribbean, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico count as international.  Â
- Also note: Live-aboard’s who are not actively cruising do not qualify. Actively cruising means spending at least 6 months of the year cruising your vessel outside of your home country’s waters.Â

- Create a VIPCA Crew Membership – $150 per year – Sign up at vipca.org/join
- Follow the prompts on the welcome email
- Fill out the application
- Note: Premiums vary depending on age and deductible level ($1,000, $3,500, or $5,000). Premiums paid separately from yearly VIPCA membership fees ($150/year)
